Update coming soon!  Just bought a Ram Promaster!

Two girls, two dogs, one van, and an endless ticklist.

Welcome to the life of Laura and Chelsea.  We are best friends who share a love of climbing.  We spend our days driving aimlessly around the country searching for rocks, eating food, taking lots of naps in the sun, and meeting wonderful people along the way.  Occasionally (more often than we like) we run out of money and have to park ourselves somewhere for a bit to save up again.

Akwardness is our specialty.
Since meeting in 2008, we have spent many months on the road traveling from west to east and north to south, sampling the country's finest (and not so fine) rock.  Chelsea is a born traditionalist, who learned to climb on the sweet splitter cracks of Utah's Indian Creek.  Laura first learned how to pull on plastic, then became primarily a sport climber, and has since morphed into an all-arounder.

Accompanying the duo on their adventures are the always loyal, usually dusty, Titan and Star.  Titan is a black dog, and Star is a tan dog, both around six years old.  They love treats, snow, dirt, rolling in poop, and a good night of snuggling after a long day at the crag.

In 2013, Laura pulled the trigger on a grey Sprinter, since dubbed Silas.  Previously, the four beings had spent most of their time cohabiting in a Honda CRV.  Although the CRV is much beloved, roomier digs were very appealing.  After several months of work on converting the van into a living space, it is time to hit the road again.  This blog will follow the adventures of Laura and Chelsea as they explore the country in Silas.

  1. I've been following you on Instagram for a few months; just happened to click more and find your blog. This is great! I'd love to learn more about you. What kind of jobs are you working this Summer? What made you decide to take on the nomadic life? Did you just go do it, or did you research and plan before starting? Do you have a home base or did you give up everything you can't carry in the van? Where do you store your skis and bicycles? Looking forward to more photos of Alaska! ~Emy
